This month we've got a new team member that's filled a brand new position for Newicon - People and Culture Manager. That person is Lucy, and with years of experience in building a company culture we're very excited to see what's next here at Newicon now that we have Lucy on board.
As usual, we like to ask our new team members a few questions to get to know them a little better. Here are Lucy's answers...
What’s your working background, and how did you come to work for Newicon?
I previously worked at a creative design agency where I was able to see clearly what an amazing company culture does for your team. Here I gained experience in all things people and culture and wanted to bring these skills to Newicon to help them with their journey of scaling in the next few years. I am here to make an impact and ensure we are the best place to work.
Describe your job to a six-year-old
It’s like a big game of chess but with people and making sure everyone wins!
What are you looking forward to working on the most?
Embedding our values into our people strategy and watching our culture grow as we scale up. Making sure we are having a positive employee experience end to end and making a positive impact on the world!
What tech breakthroughs do you think we’ll be seeing in the next ten years?
3D-Printed Human Organs- amazing concept.
What do you like doing outside of work, any unusual hobbies?
I have two children and love spending time with them, creating new memories through experiences, I really want to get the most out of time outside of work as well as in!
Favourite film/TV show/podcast?
I have faves for different times of the year and also depending on how I am feeling.
What book should everyone read?
I should probably be stating my fave business book but I am an avid reader and love to read to relax.
High society Ben Elton or Where the Crawdags Sing.
At Newicon we listen to a lot of music and make far too many playlists. What are your go-to songs and/or artists?
I used to be so up to date but sadly only listen to music on my commute now so it ranges from whatever is on the radio. I have my guilty pleasures but you will have to press me for those haha.
Share a meme that sums up you or your job…
I am here to make you want to come to work!
Draw yourself!
I don’t know why I didn’t become an illustrator
Thanks to Lucy for taking the time to fill out our (somewhat silly) questions!
